Madrigal‘s “I Believe In Sunshine“, written by producer Greg Hambleton, is the top 10 1971 version (on the Tuesday label) of this classic song. Madrigal, a ‘sunshine-pop’ band from Willowdale, featured Peter Boynton and the band’s smooth four-part harmonies. Their recording was a cover of an earlier regional hit by a local Toronto Yorkville rock band called A Passing Fancy (Columbia, 1968) that reached a top fifteen chart position on the powerhouse AM station at the time, CHUM Radio.
